Nomads World Gallery goes live!
Posted by Zack Darling | Filed under Art & Design, Web Development
Today Zack Darling Creative Associates launched Nomads World Gallery . Nomad’s World is a beautiful import store and gallery based in downtown Ukiah, California. The owners, Rita & Chance, are two charismatic globetrotters with impeccable taste in art, design, color and craftwork. Their beautiful store clearly shows their quality taste, and their website needed to as well.
The challenge with this project was to present an enormous amount of visual imagery within a relatively small website. We accomplished this through dynamic interactive galleries that exist throughout the site. Also, we needed to help them present their message of global-mindedness and “true fair-trade” with a unified voice. We interviewed them and created site copy based on the information and our own experience with their store. The result: a colorful and well expressed website that offers a true journey through their gallery, their lives and the world.

The Nomad's World Gallery website is a visual journey through the store, the owners lives and the world.

The Sacred Centers Caduceus Chakra Graphic
Posted by Zack Darling | Filed under Art & Design
One of my lifelong friends and self-adopted mother figures, Anodea Judith, is one of the world’s foremost experts on the chakra system. She is the founder of Sacred Centers and shares her transformational messages though her books, videos and workshops.
Recently she hired me to work with her on a unique image of a caduceus that is inter-related to the chakras, the human body and the planet. Here is the final graphic as well as many of the variations we created along the way.

HydroPacific’s New Look
Posted by Zack Darling | Filed under Art & Design
One of my favorite new clients is HydroPacific – a gardening supply store in Ukiah and Cloverdale. They’ve been wonderful people to work with and I’m really enjoying the project. We’re currently working on a mid-sized online store with over 2,000 products. We’re photographing every one and building the e-commerce system for them now. The design is looking good and I look forward to sharing it with you all when it’s done. Very exciting.
For now, I can share with you some other design work we just completed. HydroPacific has had strong branding from the first opening of their store, but the time has come to help them take it to the next level. Here are a number of examples of some new designs I just completed for them.

Sea Of Dreams graphics…
Posted by Zack Darling | Filed under Art & Design, Events & Festivals
I recently completed this year’s campaign design for Sea Of Dreams – an amazing New Year’s Eve event that happens every year in San Francisco. I did their graphics from 2003-2005 and they decided to have me back this year for their 10-year anniversary. Check out seaofdreamsnye.com for more information about the event. Once again I had the honor of working with one of my favorite artists on this design, Andrew Gonzalez. Be sure to check out his website at sublimatrix.com . I can’t wait to see these in print and all over the Bay Area!

Sea of Dreams Teaser Poster
Posted by Zack Darling | Filed under Art & Design, Events & Festivals
I was happy to discover that the producers of Sea of Dreams sat down and considered a number of various designers in the music industry for this year’s campaign and they chose me! I haven’t designed the S.O.D. poster since 2005 and I’m excited to be a part of this project once again. Here’s the teaser poster that I created last night.
Also, here’s another Art Nouveau version I created that they didn’t end up going with – but I did like anyway.

Although I love the Art Nouveau look, they didn't feel it fit the event. Ah well... someday I'll get to do a Nouveau design!

Earthways At Ocean Song
Posted by Zack Darling | Filed under Art & Design, Community, Events & Festivals
I recently completed a poster & flyer for Ocean Song. Ocean Song is a beautiful piece of cooperative land in Western Sonoma County where they host events, workshops and other great stuff. Last summer I went there with a group of 50 friends to do their ropes course. What a thrill!

From the client: Hi Zack, The poster and flyer are amazing and I am so happy with them. I agree that these will draw an enthusiastic crowd, and they really have the feel of the event. Thanks for all of your thorough work on this and for being willing to do the revisions. I appreciate your artistic/graphic design skills- I have worked as a professional textile and surface designer and know what it takes for the chemistry of the design elements to work together. I hope you enjoy the summer, and of course you are welcome at the event as our guest in August if you are so inclined - just let me know. In the meanwhile I hope you have an great summer. Warm Regards, Lisa Baiter Ocean Song

In celebration of the 10-Year Anniversary of the Techno-Tribal Dance, we’re giving away 2,000 of these commemorative posters to our audience. Many of them will be signed by Andrew Jones who created the original illustration. These will be 13″x18″ high-quality 14pt cardstock semi-gloss posters. I hope people enjoy them as we want our audience to feel special at this event.

The Limited-Edition 10-Year Anniversary Commemorative Poster will be given away at this year's Harmony Festival.

Blossoms of beer…
Posted by Zack Darling | Filed under Art & Design, Community, Events & Festivals
Here are some designs I just completed for Hopmonk. The event coincides with Sebastopol’s Apple Blossom Festival (thus the apple tree in the background). I’ve never gone for that ‘ye old beer pub’ design look before, but very much enjoyed it. I hope you do too!

Taking on Hop Monk as a new client…
Posted by Zack Darling | Filed under Art & Design, Events & Festivals
One of the best local venues for live music here in the North Bay Area is The Abbey at the Hop Monk Tavern it’s regularly bumping with an amazing array of bands and DJ’s from all over. The beer is great and the vibe is always fun. I’m excited that they’ve become my new design client as music related design brings me the greatest joy as an artist.
Here are a couple posters I created for Hop Monk this weekend.
