Project Name: AlgaeCompetition.com

Project Type: Informational Website

Project Launch Date: February 2011

Project Details:

Algae Competition’s website is a WordPress installation and adapted theme design that we took from an aged html structure and re-worked into a beautiful, highly functional, intuitive design and UX. We re-purposed the established logo to push it into the now.

Today the owner of Algae Competition has the benefit of concentrating on the content of his work, rather than struggling with layout and html.  We’re very proud of the scope of this informational site and the success that we had in bringing it to life.

During the course of the project we discovered that there were unfortunate limitations to the hosting site that had been carrying the old site.  We recommended a move to a faster, more resource-friendly host and migrated Algae Competition to its new server home.  This involved the code base, database and email accounts as well as security and code base upgrades.  It was a fun part of the full package and let us flex our web server administration muscles.

Project Name: Mission Yoga & Bikram Yoga in the Mission

Project Type: Informational Website, Logo design & eMarketing Newsletter

Project Launch Date: September 2010

This is an adapted WordPress theme installation with integrated original design. We took an idea that the owners of Mission Yoga had already for the logo and dazzled it into reality.

The design aesthetic of the studio is “Buddhist Hacienda,” according to steve23 and Juicy (the proprietors): a dynamic hybrid of Eastern and Indian sub-continental design with that of Latin America. We found it to be a remarkable graphical playground!

We then took the look and feel of the website and applied the design to their Campaign Manager account in the form of a Newsletter Template.

Project Name: Nomad’s World Gallery

Project Type: Informational Website w/ semi-pseudo e-commerce component

Project Launch Date: October 2009

Project Details:

Flash-based SlideShowPro slideshow. Custom logo, site design and page design.

  • Custom, hand-built xhtml/CSS structure in a LAMP environment.
  • WordPress: Deconstructed WordPress elements in the Blog section. We installed a WP back-end so that the owners of Nomad’s World could add blog content. For the front end, we pulled specific elements from the WP application framework and inserted them where we wanted in our custom page design.
  • Minor e-commerce addition that utilized an xhtml/CSS listing page and Pay Pal’s simplest checkout process

Since there is not a lot of e-commerce in this site, we considered it primarily informational. We built the product page as an example of items that can be purchased in order to bring the viewing audience into the store front in Ukiah, California. Nomad’s World Gallery has such an eclectic and ever-changing inventory – most items are unique pieces – that building a store front with examples seemed the most effective way.
